West Bengal Records Highest Share of MLAs Facing Serious Criminal Cases
West Bengal has recorded the highest share of MLAs facing serious criminal cases, with 58% of its legislators having such cases against them, according to the data.
At the national level, 170 of the 543 Lok Sabha MPs face serious criminal cases. In the Rajya Sabha, 40 of 233 members have reported serious criminal cases.
The figures highlight the extent of criminal cases among elected representatives and have renewed concerns over the criminalisation of politics in India.
