Asian Games 2026 Day 10: India Reaches 45 Medals, Remains 12th in Standings

India Adds Seven Medals on Day 10; China Leads With 229

Aichi-Nagoya, September 28: India added seven medals on Day 10 of the Asian Games 2026, taking its overall tally to 45 medals — 4 gold, 20 silver and 21 bronze. India is currently placed 12th in the medal standings, where countries are ranked primarily by the number of gold medals won.

Athletics continued to be India's biggest medal contributor, with 19 medals — nine silver and 10 bronze. Shooting has contributed 12 medals — one gold, six silver and five bronze. Squash has added three medals. Together, athletics and shooting account for 31 of India's 45 medals.

India's Day 10 Medal Highlights

Sreeshankar Murali won silver in the men's long jump.

Gulveer Singh secured silver in the men's 1500m, adding to the silver he won in the 10,000m.

Vithya Ramraj claimed bronze in the women's 400m hurdles with a personal best of 54.75 seconds.

Parul Chaudhary won bronze in the women's 5000m.

Esha Singh took silver in the women's 25m pistol after a shoot-off.

Pincky Balhara won bronze in the women's -78kg Kurash event.

India's four gold medals have come from women's cricket, men's kabaddi, women's kabaddi and the mixed-team 10m air pistol event.

China remains well ahead of the field with 229 medals, including 131 golds. Hosts Japan are second with 172 medals, while South Korea are third with 90.

India's medal campaign will continue with several important events ahead. Lovlina Borgohain has secured a medal by reaching the women's 75kg boxing semifinals, while India's men's cricket team advanced to the semifinals after its quarterfinal against Afghanistan was abandoned due to rain. Hockey, boxing and athletics will also provide further opportunities for India to add to its tally.
