Mumbai, July 15 - Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to expedite the Jaikwadi-based water supply project and ensure clean and regular drinking water for all residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad).The directions were given during a review meeting held at his official residence Varsha.
WHO ATTENDED:
Ministers Atul Save, Sanjay Shirsat, Gulabrao Patil, MP Sandipan Bhumre, MLAs Suhas Shirsat, Satish Chavan, Mayor Sameer Rajurkar, and senior officials.
Deputy Mayor Rajendra Janjal, Standing Committee Chairman Anil Makariye, Municipal Commissioner Amol Yedge, and District Collector Vinay Gauda also joined via video conference.
CM FADNAVIS' KEY INSTRUCTIONS:
Complete Pending Work: Contractor and concerned agencies must finish incomplete works immediately. Water tanks and city distribution network should be completed on priority.
Phased Execution: Break the project into phases. Hold separate meetings with contractors after site inspection.
Deadline: “The work must be completed within the stipulated time under any circumstances. Providing regular and pure water to the last citizen is the government's duty.”
Increase Tap Connections: Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, and Water Supply Dept must work in coordination to increase tap connections.
Testing & Evaluation: Conduct ‘Hydraulic Testing’ of the distribution system. Evaluate contractor performance and take regular reviews.
Manpower: Ensure adequate manpower for timely completion. Submit a phase-wise plan in the next meeting.
Road Repairs: Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran should restore old distribution lines and repair roads/dug-up pits immediately to prevent accidents during monsoon.
PROJECT DETAILS:
Purpose: To provide 604 MLD (Million Litres Per Day) water to the projected 2052 population of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar from Jaikwadi Dam.
Water Tanks: 59 tanks planned. 29 tanks completed.
Pipeline: Out of 1911 km distribution network, 1291 km pipeline work completed.
Tap Connections: 46,500 tap connections given so far.
Principal Secretary, Water Supply Dept Parag Jain gave a presentation during the meeting.
