Disco Politics: Veteran Actor Mithun Chakraborty Accorded Cabinet Minister Rank In Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 07, 2026: ln a major development in West Bengal politics, veteran actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty has been appointed as an advisor to the West Bengal government's Information & Cultural Affairs Department.
According to the official order, the actor has been accorded the rank of a Cabinet Minister. The order has come into effect immediately and will continue until further notice.
The appointment of 'Mithun Da', as he is fondly called, has created a buzz in political circles, bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase "disco politics."
From ruling the silver screen with his iconic dialogue "I Am a Disco Dancer" to now taking on a significant administrative role with Cabinet rank, Mithun Chakraborty's new innings in Bengal is being closely watched.
