Wonder Kid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Hits 100 off 25 Balls, 14 Sixes in ‘The Switch’ in Pietersen: “He Can Break Gayle’s 175”

May 25, 2026: 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has set ‘The Switch’ T20 league on fire with a breathtaking 00 off just 25 balls, including 14 sixes.

Representing his franchise in the new global T20 tournament ‘The Switch’, Sooryavanshi reached his century in the 7th over of the innings, becoming the fastest centurion in The Switch history and one of the fastest in all T20 cricket. His innings was laced with brutal power-hitting — 14 sixes and only 2 fours, with a strike rate of 400.

Former England captain *Kevin Pietersen*, who is commentating in The Switch, was left stunned. On air, KP said: “This kid is unreal. He’s not just hitting sixes, he’s clearing grounds. I won’t be surprised if he’s the first to score 200 in a T20. Chris Gayle’s 175 record is in danger.”

Why it matters:

1Age 14: Sooryavanshi, who debuted in IPL 2025 for Rajasthan Royals at 13, is already being called the next big thing in Indian cricket.

Record chase: Chris Gayle’s 175_ off 66 balls for RCB in 2013 remains the highest T20 score. Pietersen believes Vaibhav “wants to score 200 in T20” and has the game to do it.

The Switch format The new league allows “power switch” overs where boundaries count double, helping explosive hitters like Vaibhav maximize impact.

Sooryavanshi’s reaction  "I just play my shots. KP sir told me to back myself. If I get set, 200 is possible one day.”

Vaibhav had earlier scored a 35-ball century in IPL 2025 vs Gujarat Titans, the fastest by an Indian in IPL history. He’s now the youngest player to score hundreds in both IPL and The Switch.
