‘Won’t Let You Kill Democracy’: Prakash Raj Speaks Out After Reported Detention of CJP Members

Actor and activist Prakash Raj has reacted to the reported detention of Abhijeet Dipke, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and other members associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) ahead of their planned protest in Delhi, saying that their voices cannot be silenced.

The reported detentions took place on October 10, 2026, amid heightened security in the national capital ahead of a proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The protest was intended to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to media reports, Delhi Police detained Dipke and CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after their flight from Mumbai landed in Delhi. Dhruv Rathee was also reportedly detained in Gurugram before the demonstration.

Prakash Raj, who has supported the campaign, expressed his opposition to the restrictions surrounding the protest. His remarks echoed his criticism of the authorities' decision to deny permission for the demonstration.

The actor has questioned the restrictions on citizens' right to protest and raised concerns over what he described as an attempt to undermine democracy. His statement, “Won't Let You Kill Democracy,” reflects his opposition to actions that he believes could suppress public dissent.

The CJP-led campaign has drawn attention to electoral transparency, accountability within the Election Commission and the right to peaceful protest. The reported detentions have added to the political controversy surrounding the planned demonstration.

The developments come amid a broader dispute over the SIR process, with opposition leaders and activists demanding greater transparency, while the Election Commission's functioning remains at the centre of political debate.
