FWICE Bans Ranveer Singh, Says “None of Our Workers Will Work With Him” Over Rs 40 Cr Dispute.

Ranveer Singh Banned by FWICE Over Don 3 Controversy.

Mumbai:- The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has banned Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh following his abrupt exit from Farhan Akhtar’s much-awaited film Don 3 The decision was announced at a press conference on Monday evening.

FWICE action: FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, instructing the film industry not to work with him until he resolves the dispute. Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit said: None of our workers will work with him”

Farhan’s complaint: Farhan Akhtar, director and co-producer under Excel Entertainment, approached FWICE through the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA). He alleged Ranveer withdrew from Don 3 just 3 weeks before shooting was scheduled to begin, causing major disruption.

Rs 40-45 crore damages: Excel Entertainment reportedly demanded Rs 40 crore to Rs 45 crore in compensation for pre-production losses. The banner said it had to release several departments and HODs due to the exit.

No response from Ranveer: FWICE sent three formal notices to Ranveer over 10-15 day intervals but got no response. His team only emailed questioning FWICE’s jurisdiction after the press conference was announced.

FWICE’s stand: In its statement, FWICE said: "Sudden exits from projects by senior and established actors at crucial stages pose a serious threat to the stability and working ecology of the entertainment industry” The body considers producers, directors, artists, and technicians as _“one family bound by mutual trust and professional commitments”

Why Ranveer left: Reports cite creative disagreements over the character’s portrayal and script issues. Ranveer allegedly wanted a darker, more aggressive Don, while makers preferred the franchise’s established tone. Excel claims he approved the script before pre-production began.

Farhan’s comment: Breaking his silence, Farhan told The Hollywood Reporter India“Nothing can be taken for granted till you actually have it on film.”.

Ranveer was announced as the new Don in August 2023, taking over from Shah Rukh Khan. Don 3 was put on hold after his exit. Industry buzz suggests Shah Rukh Khan might return.

Ranveer’s upcoming work: He remains busy with Pralay a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta.
