Russia Dismisses French ‘Russian Threat’ Claims as Tensions Escalate

Russia has rejected France’s accusations of Russian cyberattacks and interference, dismissing the narrative of a growing “Russian threat” as a myth. The dispute has added another layer of tension to already strained relations between Moscow and Paris.

France has accused Russia-linked actors of conducting cyber-espionage against French government, diplomatic, defence and strategic institutions. French authorities have specifically attributed activity involving the Turla intrusion set to the 16th Centre of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

Moscow, however, has denied the allegations and pushed back against what it sees as an attempt by Paris to portray Russia as a broader security threat. The confrontation comes amid growing European concerns over cyberattacks, disinformation and other forms of alleged hybrid interference.
