UP Poll Picture Tightens: NDA at 42%, INDIA Bloc at 40% in August 2026 MOTN

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape appears to be tightening ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, according to the August 2026 Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey conducted by CVoter for the India Today Group.

The survey projects the NDA at 42% vote share, marginally ahead of the INDIA bloc at 40% if Lok Sabha elections were held in Uttar Pradesh now.

The figures suggest a change from the 2024 Lok Sabha election, when the INDIA bloc secured around 44% of the vote in the state. However, the latest MOTN projection should be viewed as a snapshot of voter sentiment rather than a prediction of an actual election result.

Interestingly, despite the NDA's vote-share lead, the survey's seat projection puts the INDIA bloc ahead, with 41 of UP's 80 Lok Sabha seats compared with 38 for the NDA, while one seat is projected for a party outside the two alliances.

The August MOTN survey was conducted by CVoter, with 25,184 respondents directly surveyed between July 1 and August 25, 2026, supplemented by 91,795 interviews from the previous six months of tracking.

The big question now: Can the NDA convert its narrow vote-share advantage into seats, or will the INDIA bloc's support translate into another strong performance in Uttar Pradesh?
