FDA Seals Two Popular Eateries in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Over Serious Food Safety Violations

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken strict action against two prominent food establishments in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after inspections uncovered serious hygiene and food-safety violations. The FSSAI licences of the establishments were suspended, effectively barring them from manufacturing, storing, selling or distributing food.

At the Kranti Chowk establishment, Gayatri Mewad Private Limited, FDA officials reportedly found cut paneer with a foul odour and no validity date. Prepared gravies lacked preparation or use-by time markings. Vegetables were being cut near a toilet entrance in an area reportedly covered with cobwebs and dirt.

Officials also found boiled noodles kept uncovered in the utensil-washing area, raising concerns about cross-contamination. Frying oil had reportedly turned black due to repeated heating, while onions and other raw materials were stored directly on the floor.

The FDA said the Kranti Chowk establishment had previously received an improvement notice in December 2025 and was fined ₹50,000 in April 2026, but corrective measures were allegedly not implemented.

The second action was taken against a food establishment on Beed Bypass Road, where inspectors reportedly found live insects in stored jowar and bajra flour, along with several other food-storage and hygiene violations.
