Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,( Correspondent):
A massive protest demonstration was organized by Mahiti Seva Samiti (MASS INDIA) at Kranti Chowk in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on July 28 in support of social activist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been observing a hunger strike in Delhi in solidarity with the ongoing agitation over the alleged NEET paper leak and the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protest witnessed slogans against what the organizers described as the Central Government's "insensitive approach" towards students and public concerns. Protesters urged the government to respond to the demands of the movement and ensure accountability in the education system.
Addressing the gathering, Adv. Suresh N. Menchirel, National President of Mahiti Seva Samiti, strongly criticized the Union Government, stating that suppressing the voice of the people is contrary to democratic values. He expressed complete solidarity with Sonam Wangchuk and said that MASS INDIA stands firmly behind his peaceful and democratic struggle for justice.
He further stated that Sonam Wangchuk has reportedly been on a prolonged hunger strike in support of the movement at Jantar Mantar, where protesters are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak. He alleged that despite growing public concern and Wangchuk's deteriorating health, the Central Government has failed to respond meaningfully.
Adv. Shivani Jaiswal, Women's President and Marathwada Spokesperson of Mahiti Seva Samiti, energized the gathering with powerful slogans and a stirring poem, calling upon the youth to come forward in the fight against injustice, corruption, and irregularities in the education system.
Speakers at the protest alleged that the NEET paper leak had severely affected the future of lakhs of students. They further claimed that several students had taken the extreme step of suicide following the controversy and demanded that the Union Education Minister accept moral responsibility and resign immediately. They also called for strict legal action against all those responsible for examination irregularities.
Among those present at the protest were Shabbir Sheikh Jilani (Sillod President), Ibrahim Khan, Nandkishor Palkar, Mirza Chand Beg (Executive Member), Riyaz Deshmukh (Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police), Mahesh Dhanawat (Jalna President), Vikas Bagdi, Satsangraj Sonawane, Amisha Bankar, Abdul Majid Sheikh, Ravindra Kirtishahi, along with several office-bearers, members, and social activists.
The demonstration concluded peacefully with participants urging the Central Government to respect public sentiment, respond positively to Sonam Wangchuk's demands, ensure transparency in the education system, and take stringent action against those responsible for examination malpractice. The protest site echoed with slogans such as "Save Education, Save the Nation," "Punish the Paper Leak Culprits," and "Dharmendra Pradhan Must Resign."
