CJP Spokesperson Saurav Das Alleges Pressure on CBI, ED Over Election Commission Dispute

New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das has alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are being pressured to target people close to Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

In a post on X, Das claimed that Sandhu and Joshi were resisting pressure to participate in a joint press conference with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and reject an Indian Express report concerning alleged internal objections within the Election Commission.

According to The Indian Express, Sandhu and Joshi had formally objected at least 14 times over a 10-month period to decisions and orders that they said had been issued without their knowledge. The Election Commission has rejected suggestions of an internal split, maintaining that decisions, including those related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, were unanimous.

Das also cited the case of former Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa, whose family members received income-tax notices in 2019. Contemporary reports confirmed that notices were issued to Lavasa's wife, who said she had disclosed her income and was cooperating with the tax authorities.

However, Das's allegations that the CBI and ED are currently being pressured have not been independently established.
