ARVIND KEJRIWAL WRITES TO 29 AUTO COMPANIES OVER E20 FUEL DAMAGE COMPENSATION.

ARVIND KEJRIWAL WRITES TO 29 AUTO COMPANIES OVER E20 FUEL DAMAGE COMPENSATION.

KEJRIWAL WRITES TO 29 AUTO MANUFACTURERS ON E20 FUEL ISSUE.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has written letters to 29 automobile companies in the country demanding compensation for damages caused by E20 fuel to vehicles.

The letter addresses concerns that petrol blended with 20% ethanol is causing problems in vehicles not designed for it.

FIRST LETTER TO 3 MAJOR COMPANIES:

The first set of letters*has been sent to:

Maruti Suzuki India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

Hero MotoCorp.

SECOND LETTER TO REMAINING 26 COMPANIES:

A second letter has been sent to the remaining 26 auto manufacturers across India.

 KEY DEMANDS:

Kejriwal has urged the companies to:

Take responsibility for damages to engines, fuel pumps, and rubber parts due to E20

Provide free repairs/upgrades for vehicles not E20 compliant

Announce a compensation policy for customers facing issues after using E20 fuel.

He argued that since the government is pushing E20 rollout, companies must also ensure consumer protection and not let vehicle owners bear the cost.

 BACKGROUND: E20 FUEL CONTROVERSY.

The Centre is rolling out E20 petrol nationwide to cut oil imports and emissions.

But many owners of pre-2023 vehicles have reported lower mileage, corrosion, and engine issues.

Auto companies had earlier said older vehicles may need modifications to run on E20 safely.

DRAFT LETTER FROM ARVIND KEJRIWAL TO AUTO MANUFACTURERS ON E20 FUEL.

To,

The Managing Director / CEO

Subject: Urgent Action Required Regarding Vehicle Damages Caused by E20 Fuel and Demand for Consumer Compensation.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you on behalf of millions of vehicle owners across the country who are facing serious problems due to the rollout of E20 fuel (Petrol with 20% Ethanol).

While the government’s push for ethanol blending is welcome for energy security and the environment, it is the consumers who are now bearing the cost of this transition.

Key Concerns Raised by Citizens:

1Engine damage, fuel pump failure, and corrosion* in vehicles not designed for E20.

Reduced mileage and performance issues.

Degradation of rubber parts, gaskets and fuel lines in pre-2023 models.

Lack of clarity and support from manufacturers on warranty coverage for E20-related damages.

Your own industry advisories have stated that vehicles manufactured before April 2023 may require modifications or are not fully E20 compliant Yet, E20 petrol is now widely available at pumps, leaving consumers with no choice.

My Demands:

In the interest of consumer rights and public welfare, I urge your company to immediately:

Announce a clear compensation and free repair policy for all customers whose vehicles have suffered damage due to E20 fuel.

2Provide free upgrades/retrofitting kits* for non-E20 compliant vehicles to make them compatible.

Extend warranty coverage to include E20-related damages for at least the next 3 years.

Launch a public awareness campaign to inform customers about E20 compatibility and precautions.

The government cannot push a fuel policy and leave citizens to pay for the consequences. As manufacturers, you have a moral and commercial responsibility to stand with your customers.

I request your response within 15 days outlining the steps your company will take. The people of India deserve accountability, not excuses.

Yours sincerely,

Arvind Kejriwal
