Qatar Opens Its First "Smart Mosque" That Generates Its Own Electricity.
QATAR LAUNCHES FIRST SMART MOSQUE IN MUAITHER.
Doha, Qatar:- The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has inaugurated Qais bin Saad bin Ubadah Mosque in the Muaither area officially Qatar’s first smart mosque. The project marks Awqaf’s plan to upgrade mosque infrastructure with cutting-edge technology to match urban growth.
HOW THE MOSQUE "BUILDS ITS OWN ELECTRICITY"
This isn’t just a mosque. It’s a self-sustaining, eco-friendly model.
Key Smart Features:-
Solar Power System The mosque uses solar power to generate clean energy for air-conditioning and lighting systems. This cuts reliance on conventional power grids.
Smart Resource Control:-
Built-in systems monitor and control electricity and water consumption to optimize efficiency.
Water Recycling:-
Ablution water is recycled and reusedfor toilet facilities and to irrigate the mosque’s landscaped green areas.
Sustainability Goal:-
Officials say the design reduces carbon emissions, improves environmental quality, and supports Qatar’s green vision.
Mohammed bin Hamad Al Kuwari, Assistant Undersecretary for Da'wah and Mosques Affairs, said the project is the result of collaboration between Awqaf and the private sector.
WHY THE WORLD IS TAKING NOTICE:-
Qatar joins a growing Gulf trend of "green mosques":
UAE: Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City Mosque is the region’s first net-zero energy mosque, powered 100% by solar
Dubai: Al Rayan Mosque in Hatta generates 150% of its energy needs via solar panels and is LEED Zero Energy certified .But Qatar’s Muaither mosque is the country’s first to integrate smart tech + solar + water recycling all in one place.
