From Defence To Offence: Iran Revises Military Doctrine After Recent Wars Iran Restructures Military

Iran Army Signals Shift From Defensive To Offensive Doctrine

Iran’s army has announced a major shift in its military doctrine, moving from a primarily defensive posture toward a more offensive strategy that includes the possibility of preemptive strikes and broader retaliation against future attacks.

Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia told state-run IRNA that the change emerged from lessons learned during Iran’s two recent wars. He cited an Iranian strike on a US base in Jordan as an example of what he described as a preemptive operation.

Akraminia warned that any future attack on Iranian territory would trigger an immediate response and that the retaliation could be more extensive than the original strike.

He said the military had also used the pause in fighting to rebuild and upgrade systems damaged during the conflicts, introduce new equipment and revise training based on battlefield experience.

The army spokesperson further confirmed that the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has been merged with the Armed Forces General Staff. According to him, the restructuring is aimed at strengthening unity of command, speeding up decision-making and enabling faster military responses under current wartime conditions.
