Trump Threatens ‘Massive Bombing’ of Oman if It Obstructs Iran Blockade
Washington: US President Donald Trump has threatened to launch a “massive bombing” campaign against Oman if the country interferes with the American blockade of Iranian vessels in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
In an interview with Fox News on Monday, Trump said that if Oman “gets in the way,” the United States would respond with heavy bombing. He also insisted that the US blockade was putting pressure on Iran and said he had no deadline for resolving the conflict.
“I’m in no hurry,” Trump said, indicating that Washington was prepared to maintain pressure on Tehran for as long as necessary.
The threat is particularly significant because Oman has traditionally maintained close relations with the United States and has also played a role in diplomatic efforts involving Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy corridor, has been severely disrupted amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The American blockade has reportedly brought the movement of Iranian vessels through the waterway to a near standstill, affecting the flow of oil and other essential goods.
Meanwhile, Oman is reportedly close to reaching an understanding with Iran over the movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Any US military action against Oman could therefore significantly escalate tensions in the region.
The US-Iran war has now continued for nearly six months, with peace talks stalled and intermittent clashes still being reported. Despite the prolonged conflict, Trump has indicated that Washington is not working under a fixed timeline for a settlement.
The developments have heightened concerns over the future of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the potential impact on global energy supplies.
