NEET Re-Exam 2026: Nagpur Aspirant Allotted Abu Dhabi Centre Due to NTA Glitch, Student Has No Passport.
Father says family “stunned” after admit card listed UAE school; NTA admits technical error, issues fresh admit card with Nagpur centre.
Nagpur, June 20, 2026: A NEET-UG aspirant from Nagpur was left in “absolute shock”after his re-exam admit card allegedly assigned him a test centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE nearly 2,500 km away for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The student does not have a passport and never opted for an overseas centre.
The Admit Card: Abdullah Mohammad Talib, 18, downloaded his Re-NEET 2026 admit card at 4 pm on Thursday, June 19. It listed his exam venue as Abu Dhabi Indian School, UAE, instead of his preferred cities.
Family’s Reaction: “We are shocked. My son started crying after seeing the admit card,”said father Dr. Mohammad Talib. “He does not even have a passport.” The student had earlier been allotted Saraswati Vidyalaya in Nagpur for the original May 3 exam, which was cancelled after a paper leak.
Preferences Ignored: The family said Abdullah had selected Nagpur, Wardha, and Bhandara as his 3 preferred exam cities. “We had not given anything as such in our options,” Dr. Talib told ANI.
NTA Response: 'Technical Glitch'.
After the family contacted the NTA helpline and emailed officials, the agency acknowledged the error.
NTA Statement: “The grievance is being addressed and the candidate will be allocated a centre in Nagpur, after due verification, in the next few hours.”
DG Confirmation: NTA Director General Abhishek Singh told ANI: “The issue has been resolved and the candidate has now been allotted a centre in Nagpur.”
Fresh Admit Card: The family was told a revised admit card would be issued by 4 pm Saturday, June 20.
Former Maharashtra Education Minister Dr. Anees Ahmed* called it a “serious lapse”and said he personally took up the matter with NTA officials.
Why This Matters.
Impossible Travel: The student has no passport and “no time to go to any other district,”his father said. “He cried a lot yesterday and did not even want to write the exam.”
Mental Stress: The incident adds to anxiety around the NEET re-exam, already rescheduled after paper leak allegations. Dipke’s letter to PM Modi this week cited 11 student suicides, including 5 in 48 hours.
Scale of Re-Exam: NTA said 22.79 lakh candidates will appear at 5,400+ centres in 551 Indian cities and 14 cities abroad on June 21.
NTA’s Broader Fixes.
The agency said it has deployed “multi-layered security measures” for June 21, including biometric authentication, CCTV, and GPS-tracked transport of papers. A nationwide mock drill was held Saturday.
Helpline: Candidates facing admit card issues can call 011-40759000 or 011-69227700.
