New Delhi, India – Amid the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, India has moved into an alert mode, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi actively engaging with key regional leaders. Following a late-night meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), PM Modi held crucial phone conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Modi Condemns Attacks, Assures Support to UAE

In his call with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned recent attacks on the Gulf nation, expressing deep condolences for the lives lost. "I spoke with UAE President, my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I strongly condemned the attacks on UAE and expressed deep condolences for those who lost their lives in these attacks. India stands in full solidarity with the UAE in this difficult time," PM Modi stated in a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter).

Officials on Sunday confirmed that three people were killed and 58 injured, including one Indian citizen, in Iranian-backed attacks on the UAE over the past two days. During their conversation, PM Modi also thanked the UAE President for ensuring the safety and security of the Indian community residing in the Emirates.

Reiterating India's stance, Modi emphasized that India supports de-escalation of tensions and upholds regional peace, security, and stability. The call underscored India's commitment to standing with its strategic partners during times of crisis.

PM Modi Appeals for Peace to Netanyahu

Subsequently, Prime Minister Modi also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. During this crucial conversation, PM Modi appealed for peace, highlighting India's long-standing position as a proponent of dialogue and diplomatic resolution to conflicts. While specific details of the discussion were not immediately released, the call signals India's deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East and its desire to see a swift return to calm.

India's diplomatic outreach comes as global concerns mount over the potential for a wider regional conflict. New Delhi's proactive engagement with both sides reflects its strategic interest in regional stability and the welfare of the large Indian diaspora in the Gulf.
