Journalist Suparna Sharma Raises Concern Over TV Channels Using Wrong Photo in Nashik Case; TCS Confirms Employee Was Not Present.

New Delhi, April 2026: Journalist Suparna Sharma has drawn public attention to a case of alleged misidentification by television news channels, stating that a woman whose photograph was widely circulated in connection with a recent police investigation in Nashik was not present at the reported location.

In a social media post shared this week, Sharma identified the woman as Nida Khan and said she is pregnant and has not worked at the Nashik office in question for several months. Sharma cited a Hindustan Times report while raising concerns about verification practices and the impact of broadcasting incorrect images during sensitive investigations.

Separately, Tata Consultancy Services released a statement confirming that the employee in question was not present at the office during the incident. The company clarified her employment and location status, which has further fueled discussion about media responsibility and fact-checking before airing photographs.

Sharma wrote that Nida Khan’s photo was shown across multiple TV channels while covering a police case linked to an IT company in Nashik. According to Sharma’s post, Khan is currently pregnant and has not been on the rolls of that office for several months.

She shared a link to a Hindustan Times article and used the post to comment on what she described as a pattern of reporting. “This is a new kind of lynching of Muslims by police, IT cells and news anchors,” Sharma wrote.

The post was widely reshared and drew responses from journalists, lawyers, and media watchdogs. Some supported the call for stricter verification, while others asked for more details from police and channels involved.

Tata Consultancy Services issued a press release addressing the matter. The company said:

1. The employee named in social media posts was not present at the Nashik premises during the incident being investigated by police.

2. Her current work location and leave status are on record with the company.

3. TCS has cooperated with authorities and shared relevant employment details as required.

The company did not comment on media coverage but said it “expects accuracy and sensitivity” when employee details are discussed publicly. TCS added that it has an internal policy to support employees facing misidentification or online harassment.
