Melania Trump Highlights Reuniting Ukraine War Children With Families as Key First Lady Initiative
US First Lady Melania Trump has described helping children separated from their families during the Russia-Ukraine war return home as one of the most meaningful aspects of her role.
In an interview with Fox Business, Trump said she has been working with representatives in both Russia and Ukraine to facilitate the reunification of children with their families. According to the White House, her efforts have helped reunite 34 children with their families.
Asked about her favourite part of serving as First Lady, Trump said having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and other people was particularly important to her.
“Nothing is better than bringing a child home to a parent,” Trump said.
She added that she continues to work toward facilitating additional reunifications.
Her comments come as she promotes humanitarian initiatives focused on children affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and families separated during the war.
